Retirement

State of California Pension
After a short 5 year vesting period, this defined benefit plan will provide you with a secure monthly income based on your salary and length of service. Of course, the longer you stay the more you will earn.

401(k) and 457(b) Plans
In addition to your pension you may opt to make monthly contributions to either the 401(k) or 457(b) plan, or both, to help bolster your retirement income.

Time Off

Vacation Leave
You may earn anywhere from 2 to 4.5 weeks of vacation each year, depending on classification, length of service, and bargaining unit.

Sick Leave
After successfully completing your first month on the job, you are eligible to earn 8 hours of sick leave each month thereafter.

Annual Leave
If you are eligible, you may opt for a combined pool of “annual leave” credits instead of separate sick and vacation leave credits under this program.

Professional Development Days
Depending on your bargaining unit you may receive two professional development days every fiscal year.

Holidays
You will receive 11 paid State holidays off and one personal holiday each year.
